The 1996 Mazda MX-5 Miata is available as a single model. New for 1996, the Miata meets 1997 side-impact standards and engine horsepower has been increased to 133hp on the 1.8 liter engine. Standard features include four wheel double-wishbone independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Additional standard features include dual airbags, stainless steel exhaust system and remote fuel door release and trunk release. Options include CFC-free air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, automatic transmission and a detachable hard-top roof. Optional packages include Power Steering Package, Popular Equipment Package, Leather Package, and with manual transmission models only, the R Package.
