The ninth-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class is more than a simple luxury upgrade. Its Brake Assist Plus system uses long- and short-range radar to anticipate and avoid collisions™or, at the very least, lessen the severity of a crash™by automatically braking with full force if you don't stomp on the brake hard enough to stop in time. More impressive is the Night View Assist, which shines infrared beams down the road to illuminate hazards that are beyond the reach of the headlights. A special camera on the rearview mirror reads the infrared and shows you a crisp, clear image of what's coming on an eight-inch LCD screen in the instrument panel. | | | | | | | 3 reviews provided by Epinions.com | Product Rating: | | | Reliability: | | | Seat Comfort: | | | Build Quality | | | Roominess: | | | Author's rating: | | New Mercedes-Benz S550: once again the undisputed top of the heap? by mkaresh , Sat Feb 18 20:33:41 EST 2006 Pros: Features, performance, handles like a smaller sedan, ride quality, exquisite workmanship Cons: Complicated controls, overly trendy exterior, somewhat artless interior Review: Back in the early 1980s the "big Mercedes" was widely acknowledged to be the best sedan available. Some design issues Review: How much luxury does a driver need? In my opinion after driving a Chrysler 300C, a 745li, an Audi A8 and owning an Escalade, I would have to say that the major features I would look for in a Luxury vehicle are comfortable, luxurious leather seats;... read full review
The bottom line: The S550 is more refined than any other sub-$100,000 luxury car. Its not as sporty as the 750Li. Its more of a cross between a limo and a yacht. | | | | | Author's rating: | | | Reliability: | | | Seat Comfort: | | | Roominess: | | | Build Quality | | Mercedes nailed it with the S-class! by aerostar , Fri Jun 01 19:05:03 EDT 2007 Pros: Performance, features, gadgets, popularity, you will be noticed, crash test ratings, luxury, space, expensive features Cons: Price, waste if crashed, dashboard could be more interesting Review: Since I like cars and rent/borrow some, my friend who just happened to be renting a light brown 2007 Mercedes-Benz S550 for a week let me use it for a day with him. I have gone on the highway with this baby, and I did not hear any sounds or... read full review
